Athens Locally Crafted September 2008

Hello friends!

The time for Locally Crafted has come upon us again and with the Holidays right around the corner, now is the time to
start collecting little treasures to give to those we love most.
‘Going Green", a popular statement right now leads me to speak to you about why you would want to buy local arts.
Green living is not just using natural biodegradable products for your household or for oneself.
It’s also about buying local….buying handmade…….buying recycled…….
It’s about what Athens Locally Crafted is doing in your community, supporting local artists.
It says on our main page:
Athens Locally Crafted is a virtual market where local craftspeople of all kinds can display their goods. Athens Locally Crafted believes in the importance of a local economy, with local artisans and crafters providing unique goods that strengthen that economy’s base and improve our local culture. Buying local lowers the overall social cost of goods from production to your doorstep. Local artisans are your neighbors, colleagues and friends.

We believe all of these things: we want to support our local economy because that is where it hits home for us first and it’s a good place to start: home base.
So, please come out (online) and help support your community!

I put together a list of items that I thought everyone should have this winter to help you be well.

First off, write your friends and family and tell them how dear they are (or aren’t) to you with “Green Scene” note cards.
Hang out with friends with // over some hot tea from terra ken wearing your crocheted 100% cotton hat as your burning some warm vanilla sugar incense./*
*
We want to welcome our most recent vendor, Julie at Subterranean Jewelry. She has handcrafted clay necklaces that she fires to over 1800 degrees, and places on
hand-wrapped sterling silver chains and findings.

We hope everyone is enjoying this lovely fall weather and remember the pick up location has changed to the Athens Farmers Market on Saturday, unless prior arrangements have been made.

Take Care and Be Well

Greetings Friends,

We hope you and yours had a fabulous 4th of July weekend! As the busy summertime is in full-swing, we will be changing the Locally Crafted ordering time (from weekly to monthly) and pick-up location to begin at the end of this month. Please see below for the changes…

Starting this month, Locally Crafted will have one ordering period per month. The website will be open for orders on the last Monday through Wednesday of each month. You will receive a reminder email the Sunday proceeding the final Monday. For July, the ordering period is Monday the 28th through Wednesday the 30th.

The pick-up location will be the Athens Farmers’ Market, which is held at the Bishop Park basketball courts. The pick-up day will be the Saturday following the last Monday of each month. Some months this Saturday will be the final one of the month, and some will be the first Saturday of the next month. For July orders, the pick-up date will be Saturday August 2nd. You can meet me at my booth and pick up your order between 8am and noon.

Locally Crafted remains the place to get gifts for those special gift-giving occasions…birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, pick-me-ups, and the list goes on. We will continue to offer multiple payment options, including the easy to use Paypal button.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support of Locally Crafted and the Athens craft community. We look forward to providing your special gifts that are made with love right here in the Athens area.
